We have been working on some computer training and installation over the past week and a half, and by the end of the week we should be ready to launch some new graphics. It’s exciting because not only are we really improving our ability to do our job with increased efficiency, the new maps are pretty amazing. Over the past few years with all the super-accurate maps being generated by fly over photographs, we finally are getting them put in our weather computer…yes your house is probably on there:) It really takes a big effort to switch computer systems, updating the programs and then more importantly learning how to use them properly. The thought of the cost of it all is staggering and I feel so lucky to work for company that views the advance of technology as something that’s very important. You really develop a respect for the computer programmers, I did take some computer science and programming classes in college and I found them to be pretty difficult. Living in a different language and constantly thinking ahead and troubleshooting, you have to be really smart to do it no doubt. We are more like drivers of the car instead of the mechanic – and you can look to see this new car very soon!
